Still dreaming of those Fuji views from our last post? Got time for yet another day trip from Tokyo?
A day in Hakone might be just what you need.
Think epic Mount Fuji views, pirate ship cruises, and eggs that (allegedly) extend your life. Hop on another full-day bus tour, soak in a hot spring, and let someone else handle the logistics while you sit back, relax, and snack your way through the trip!
Quick Recommendation: Our blog is filled with tips and tricks for traveling in Japan. For today's post, we're checking out this Hakone Fuji Day Tour w/ Cruise, Cable Car, Volcano.

Getting Started with Your Day in Hakone
Your day trip to Hakone starts with a convenient bus pickup.
As you settle in, get ready for a scenic two-hour ride. Time to relax and look forward to the day ahead.
During the ride, you can chat with other travelers. Share stories and tips for the day’s adventures. Joining group tours always opens doors to making new friendships and connections, you might learn something you didn’t know about Japan or other cultures. Cherish this time and expand your horizons.
When you arrive in Hakone, your first stop is Lake Ashi. Time to bust out the camera for those Kodak moments… or should we say Fuji Film since Mount Fuji is literally right there. With its calm waters and stunning scenery, this is your chance to pause, breathe, and pretend you’re in a travel commercial.

A Day in Hakone: Must-See Sightseeing Spots
After arriving at Lake Ashi, one of the highlights of your trip will be waiting for you: a boat cruise on a pirate-themed ship. This 30-minute journey gives you views of the lake with the majestic Mount Fuji in the background (if it’s not cloudy).
As the vessel glides over the gentle lake, we recommend getting up on the deck for the best experience and refreshing crisp air. And don’t forget your camera!

Now that you’ve waved goodbye to the boat cruise, the adventure continues with a visit to the Hakone Ropeway. This 20-minute cable car ride takes you up for some seriously sweet aerial views of mountains, volcanic terrain, and, if the clouds allow, our elusive friend Mount Fuji. Still chasing Mount Fuji!

Exploring Owakudani Valley
When you arrive at Owakudani Valley, you’ll be amazed by its unique volcanic landscape. This place gives you a 75-minute chance to explore its natural wonders.
There are gift shops where you can buy local souvenirs and snacks, as well as a cafe where you can have lunch.
Also, don’t forget to try the famous black eggs, boiled in geothermal waters.
Legend says eating a black egg can add seven years to your life. So, it’s a must-try during your visit.

After enjoying the black eggs, take time to see the stunning views of Mount Fuji. There are many viewpoints in Owakudani Valley. The calm atmosphere (not during peak tourist seasons) and beautiful views make it perfect for taking photos.
Shopping and Relaxation in Gotemba
Your adventure in Hakone has an optional end with a visit to the Gotemba Premium Outlets. This place has a wide range of high-end and unique boutiques. You can spend about two hours here, looking at famous brands and finding great deals on clothes and electronics.

After shopping, relax at the Gotemba Onsen Kaikan. Here, you can enjoy natural hot springs for about an hour. It’s a great way to relax and feel refreshed after a busy day.
Once again, this last part is optional! So make sure you make that request clear when booking.
Before heading back, think about all you’ve seen and done. From Mount Fuji’s views to local food and shopping, it’s been a memorable day. Ending with a soak in the hot springs adds a peaceful touch to your Hakone trip.
